# Bitcoin and Ethereum Can Work Harmoniously Together Says Expert
Sam Tabar, of Bit Digital, has recently stated that Bitcoin and Ethereum can work together harmoniously – even though they are often seen as competitive projects.
## How This Could Work
According to Tabar, the key to this is understanding the different roles the two play in the cryptocurrency space. Bitcoin is the largest and oldest cryptocurrency, primarily used as a store of value and a medium of exchange. Meanwhile, Ethereum is built around the ability for developers to build and deploy decentralized applications (Dapps) on top of its blockchain.
## Advantages of Working Together
There are several advantages to both projects working together harmoniously, instead of competing with each other. For one, Bitcoin’s store of value and medium of exchange roles would provide a stable base for the Ethereum network. In addition, Ethereum’s Dapp building capabilities could be used to create services and apps that could expand Bitcoin’s functionality and user base.
## Challenges of Working Together
One challenge of the two projects working together harmoniously is overcoming the differences in their underlying technology. While Ethereum is more flexible and capable of offering smart contracts and other features, Bitcoin has been slower to evolve and adapt. Another challenge is the different stakeholders involved in each project:Bitcoin is mainly supported by core developers and miners, while Ethereum is backed by a large community of developers and users.
Despite the challenges, Tabar believes that Bitcoin and Ethereum can work together harmoniously to further each other’s goals and objectives. He states that the key to achieving this is understanding the unique roles each project plays in the cryptocurrency space, and using those roles to create a mutually beneficial ecosystem.
